Christel Baillie

Christel Baillie is a portrait painter and a musician. Having studied the violin/viola in Hannover, Cologne and Vienna, she moved to England with her husband Alexander Baillie where she became a London freelance player with chamber orchestras as well as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Orchestra. Since living in Germany again where her husband became a professor of cello she started a teaching practice, is leading an Amateur Symphony Orchestra and works in her Atelier. For the past 18 years she taught chamber music and introduced all violinists to viola playing at ‚Pro Corda‘ at Leiston Abbey in GB. She also participates in the ‚Childwickbury Art Fair in Hertfordshire each year. Her first grandchild Isabel is continuing the tradition of violin playing in the family. The future brings more painting and linking up with other teachers about methods, language and literature in violin/viola teaching.
