Andrea Repetto

Andrea Repetto, violist and teacher, is a founding member of the Quartetto d’Archi di Torino, active since 1988. He studied with Piero Farulli, Milan Škampa and György Kurtág, and with the quartet has performed in major concert seasons and festivals in Italy and abroad, collaborating in quintet with artists such as Karl Leister, Aldo Ciccolini, Valentin Berlinsky, Piero Farulli, Enrico Dindo, Boris Petrushansky, Antonello Farulli, Giuseppe Garbarino, Andrea Nannoni and others.

He has also been awarded prizes in important national and international competitions, including the Evian String Quartet Competition and the Premio Gui in Florence. Alongside his quartet activity, Andrea Repetto is intensely active in chamber music with the Ensemble Windkraft in Innsbruck (Austria), with which he is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music.

A passionate advocate of early music and historically informed performance practice, he has collaborated with Academia Montis Regalis and the baroque orchestra Cappella Lanensis. Since 2011, he has been Artistic and Music Director of the Collegium Musicum Bolzano, a chamber orchestra focused on the performance of Baroque and Classical repertoire.

He has collaborated and continues to perform as principal viola with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento and the Streicherakademie Bozen. He has also made several recordings.

Deeply committed to teaching, he has taught viola and chamber music at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Orchestra Giovanile Italiana), the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento di Saluzzo, and the summer courses of the Mahler Akademie. Winner of the Italian national teaching competition, he is professor of string quartet (chamber music for strings) at the “C. Monteverdi” Conservatory in Bolzano, where he is also involved in the first-level Master’s programme in string quartet.
